The Designer

I fell in love with paper when I was 17 years old. The love affair is holding strong.

Although I have had many passions in my life – including photography, dance, theatre and music – my passion for paper and design has remained the most consistent, and I believe it is the one that I was made to pursue.  While I was in school at Columbia College Chicago double majoring in Musical Theatre and Photography, I made ends meet by working at the local stationery shop. It wasn’t long before I decided that my dream was to one day have a stationery and invitation boutique of my very own.

In 2003 I moved to Atlanta, a bit unsure of what the perfect career move was for me, but sure that it would come to me as I pursued my loves for art and design. As I developed a career in photography, I also began drafting a business plan for a company called Foglio {an Italian term for paper}. My photography business grew, and although I loved every minute of it, my dream of opening Foglio Press was always in my heart.

Finally, in 2009, I decided to take another baby step towards that dream by opening an Etsy shop.  Little did I know that it would turn out to be much more than a baby step – it was closer to a giant leap! Just as my shop was gaining momentum, the company I was working for full-time fell victim to a difficult economy and I was soon laid off. Suddenly, without even realizing it…I was living the beginning of my dream. And so all of my wonderful clients to date have been a part of fulfilling the dream of 17-year-old me.

I can’t wait to see where the next baby step will lead…
